On average, the ROI for homes with an ADU is 35% higher than those without an ADU.  In LA, renting an ADU for $2500 a month can earn you an annual profit of $30,000!


A garage renovated to an ADU typically costs between $80,000 to $120,000 with a construction duration of 3 to 6 months.  A newly ground up ADU can cost up to $300,000 and usually take about 6 to 8 months. 


ADUs don't require approval from the city planning department. As long as you conform to code and guidelines, you can build your ADU after submitting plans to the building department and obtaining the permit.
